Today marks two months since the shop in Waterbury closed up. So where are we? Not quite where we want to be, but certainly on our way!!
Construction is moving along at a good clip, with noticeable changes happening every day. Everything has been framed, and soon the electrician will show up on site, to wire us for beautiful light, that will play off of every piece of Waterford, every Mariposa tray, every dangling jewel from John Medeiros.
We all find ourselves with work to do this month, as we anticipate our opening to be, well, soon. Arthur has been working on web site updates and improvements, and in his spare time, he has been cleaning and painting some of our furniture finds.
Kathy has been attending shows and working on her final orders for that exciting opening day.
Sheree and Raquel are helping to plan out all of the festivities that will go along with the opening.
Maria is making her list for the Atlanta show that we will attend in July, and oh yes, she is also recovering from foot surgery.
So what am I up to? A little bit of this, a little bit of that. But most of all, I am spending my days and nights dreaming of how the place will look, how that orders of new stock will come in, and how it will all magically work out. I tend to get a little anxious if I dwell on any one piece of this puzzle for too long, so I try to only chew off small bits at a time. The outdoor signage, new business cards, the new phone number, a wireless sound system (Jimmy Buffett will be in the shop), new iPads, display furniture, I think you get the picture.
I chuckle whenever someone asks me if I am enjoying my time off. When you own a small business, I think that you are always on duty, trying to stay on top of your game. The thing is, it’s not really like work, because I truly love what it is that I do.
So anyhow, when will we be open? Soon. Very soon. I want so badly to give you all a date, but I just can’t, not yet. When I have the date in sight, you all will be the first to know! So until then, hang in there, visit Viso Bello for your candy fix, your handbag needs, or check out the web page for your gift needs. We’ll be back for you soon, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all!
Comments will be approved before showing up.
But all is not lost, I consulted an expert, my wife Lori Greene. (Here is a batch of her correspondence going out today!)
